Intimate guest lists
The biggest shift we see is couples trading headcount for depth. A celebration of eighty people changes everything: you can greet every guest by name, the venue options multiply, and the budget that once went to volume goes to detail.
Smaller does not mean simpler. With fewer tables, every tablescape is seen up close, the menu can be more ambitious, and moments like handwritten place cards or a personal toast for each table suddenly become possible.
If you are trimming a list, our rule of thumb is honest and a little brutal: if neither of you has spoken to them in two years, they will not notice the absence as much as you fear.
Bold, sculptural florals
Florals are getting dramatic. Oversized installations, suspended arrangements, single-flower statements, and unexpected color pairings are taking center stage, often replacing traditional centerpieces entirely.

Candlelight as lighting design
Couples are treating light as part of the design, not an afterthought. Layers of real candlelight, warm amber uplighting, and dimmed venue fixtures turn dinner into a scene. The trick is planning the transition: bright enough for photos during dinner, then a deliberate shift as the dancing starts.
Menus with a story
Family recipes upgraded by the chef, the dessert from the couple’s first date, a midnight street-food cart from the city where they met. Food is becoming the most personal part of the night, and guests remember it far longer than they remember the favors.
The unplugged ceremony, the connected party
More couples are asking guests to put phones away during the ceremony so the room is present, then flipping the rule at the party with a live photo wall or a content corner. You get clean ceremony photos and a flood of party content, in that order.
After parties with their own plan
The after party is no longer an accident that happens at the hotel bar. Late night menus, a DJ switch, a lighting change, and a second pair of comfortable shoes are being planned from day one. If your venue has a curfew, this is also the elegant solution: the formal night ends on time, the real one does not.
